Only a few hours after graduating seniors attend their final classes at the University of Massachusetts on Tuesday, one of the biggest bands of the late 90s will take the stage at the Calvin Theater in Northampton.

Before all of the “Pomp and Circumstance,” Third Eye Blind will play a selection of their hit songs including “Graduate,” “Jumper” and “Semi-Charmed Life.” The band is currently on a nationwide tour that will bring them through Canada, Kentucky, Texas and Florida before June.

The post-grunge alternative rock group topped Billboard’s pop chart for six weeks in 1997 with “Semi-Charmed Life.” While “Jumper” was on the chart for 31 weeks between 1998 and 1999, it topped out three weeks in a row at number two. In 2000, “Never Let You Go” reached as high as number five on the chart.

The San Francisco-based band is led by vocalist and guitarist Stephan Jenkins. Behind him, is guitarist Kryz Reid, bassist Abe Millett and drummer Brad Hargreaves. Neither Reid and Millett are original band members.

When their popularity waned shortly after turn of the millennium, the band took a five-year break before releasing “Ursa Minor” in 2009, their forth best-selling album.

Washington D.C.-based band, U.S. Royalty, will open the night promptly at 8 p.m. There are tickets still available both online at IHEG.com and at the Calvin Theater Box Office.
