The Massachusetts men’s hockey team will officially begin its 2011-2012 campaign this Saturday when the Minutemen play an intrasquad scrimmage at the Mullins Center Practice Rink. The opening puck drop is set for 4 p.m. and admission is free to all.
The scrimmage, formerly known as the Maroon & White Scrimmage, will pit half of the Minutemen roster against the other half. One half will be dressed in maroon jerseys while the other half will be dressed in white.
Following the game, fans will be able to get on the ice and skate with the players during UMass’ annual Skate With the Minutemen.
The regular season is set to begin Oct. 7, when the Minutemen travel to Boston to take on Northeastern. UMass went 0-2-1 against the Huskies last season.
