The University Programming Council announced Friday that Lil Uzi Vert will no longer be headlining the Spring Concert at the University of Massachusetts due to the lack of a binding contract. Tickets will be available for sale once a new act is booked.
UPC announced Rapper Lil Uzi Vert and electronic DJ duo Loud Luxury as their Spring Concert lineup on March 27. The annual concert at the Mullins Center is still set for Sunday, April 28.
A statement sent out across UPC’s social media said the artist failed to perform at a Live Nation show and he would not create a contract for other concerts at colleges and universities around New England.
“UPC felt it could not proceed with selling tickets for an Uzi show that may not happen, especially because it lacked a binding contract with the artist,” the statement said. “The lack of a signed contract this late in the process puts the concert in jeopardy of experiencing a last-minute cancellation by the artist.”
This comes after a tweet from UPC on Friday, March 28, the day before tickets were initially scheduled to go on sale to the public, stating the sales “will not begin tomorrow due to unforeseen circumstances.”
Spring Concert ticket sales will not begin tomorrow due to unforeseen circumstances. They will be available for purchase soon! Stay tuned for more information!

On Monday, April 1, UPC posted on their Facebook about “an artist cancellation beyond our control,” but did not specify whether it was Lil Uzi Vert or Loud Luxury.
When asked for comment on whether the post was in celebration of April Fool’s Day, UPC Executive Director Colleen Coakley said, “Sadly, our recent social media posts do not reflect an April Fool’s joke. We will be addressing the situation in the coming days and providing an updated artist lineup and ticketing timeline as soon as they become finalized.”
UPC is currently in the process of selecting a new artist for the Spring Concert and will reveal the new lineup soon.
