To the editor:
For the Boston College game, it was great to see about a couple thousand students leading the Minutemen out of the tunnel at Gillette Stadium.
For the Colorado game, it was equally embarrassing that only 88 students showed up. Yes, I realize that going to Gillette takes a lot more planning and time than just rolling out of bed and walking to McGuirk, but Coach Whipple has the Minutemen playing an exciting brand of football and deserves your support.
There will be bumps in the road during the transition to FBS football. but the current players are the foundation for the future, and the student body should be there to support that foundation.
With all the social media, I know that you can do this: for the Homecoming Game, the student sections should be a sea of maroon and white. Perhaps with one section wearing maroon and another white, or with a large maroon “U” in the white section and a huge white “M” in the maroon section. Be creative!
That day, we won’t be able get to McGuirk until kickoff, but we’ll make it.
Go UMass!
Sincerely,
