  • UMass softball’s rough start to the 2011 season ended with a split over the weekend. After splitting the series with Temple, which included a 12-2 win on Saturday, the Minutewomen split with Saint Joseph’s as well on Sunday. Read Pete Vasquez’s recap of the weekend.

 

  • Women’s lacrosse found itself foiled by Northwestern in this year’s game between the sides, falling 17-7. The Minutewomen have seven games left in their season. Read Dan Gigliotti’s and Jackson Alexander’s stories on this weekend’s game.

 

  • The Minutemen of the baseball diamond continued their recent success with two wins against George Washington over the weekend despite a loss on Sunday. Read Michael Counos’ recap of the weekend here.

 

  • The Massachusetts football team released its 2011 schedule on March 25. The team isn’t competing against any major school, like last season against Michigan, but will follow a solid schedule. 

 

  • For men’s basketball, typical UMass opponent Richmond was knocked out of the NCAA Tournament when it lost to Kansas on Friday after making it to the Sweet 16.

 

  • The UMass women’s soccer team continues through its spring schedule with five more games against Holy Cross, Siena, American International and Boston University.

 

  • The No. 16 Massachusetts men’s lacrosse team continues CAA play on Tuesday when it travels to Harvard.
