University of Massachusetts graduate student Jaskaran Singh, 24, died Friday night after sustaining several injuries in a car accident, according to UMass News and Media relations.

Singh was an international student from India studying computer science.

According to a press release from the Hampshire District Attorney’s office, at 10:30 p.m., a motor vehicle struck Singh on North Pleasant Street.

After Singh was struck, the driver of the vehicle stopped immediately and cooperated with the police, and no charges or citations were issued.

Moving forward, the Amherst Police Department, the Massachusetts State Police and the MSP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section will be investigating the matter further, the press release said.
