The University of Massachusetts campus and community were informed of the death of an undergraduate student by email on Friday afternoon.
Quinn Woodworth, a sophomore from Plymouth, Massachusetts and a music major, was an active member of the Stonewall Center, according to the email from Associate Vice Chancellor and Interim Dean of Students David C. Vaillancourt.
“During this difficult time, I urge you to reach out for assistance, or to direct others as appropriate,” Vaillancourt wrote. “This time of social distancing will make processing his loss even more challenging for many in our community.”
In the email, Vaillancourt included University resources available to students, including the Center for Counseling and Psychological Health, the Stonewall Center, the Dean of Students Office and the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program.
Woodworth graduated from Plymouth South High School in 2018, and planned to pursue a career in music. Woodworth studied bassoon performance, according to his Facebook page. A GoFundMe to support the student’s family had raised over $3,000 by Friday afternoon.
