UPDATE: The University announced Monday evening that hockey player Emerson Auvenshine has been suspended from the team indefinitely following his arrest over the weekend. “Due to an off-campus incident, we have suspended Emerson from the program on an indefinite basis,” UMass coach John Micheletto said in a statement.
A Massachusetts hockey player was arrested Saturday for allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and causing malicious damage, according to a Masslive report.
Emerson Auvenshine, 24, is scheduled to be arraigned Monday at Eastern Hampshire District Court, the clerk’s office confirmed to the Collegian.
According to Masslive, Auvenshine was charged with breaking and entering and malicious destruction of property under $250.
The senior forward tweeted last week that he was scheduled to undergo knee surgery and is expected to miss the rest of the season. A spokesperson for the team had no further comment.
